NFL free agency is set to begin on March 10th, which is now less than two short weeks away. The New Orleans Saints enter this year’s free agency with many questions of their own. For starters, how will the team get under the league’s projected $143 million salary cap? Will the team move on from veterans like David Hawthorne, Brodrick Bunkley, Ben Grubbs, or even Jahri Evans?

We’re likely to receive most of these answers sooner rather than later. Generally speaking, free agents are brought in to improve a team. The 2014 Saints were even figured to need just that one player that could potentially put them into Super Bowl contention. However, last year’s free agent class proved to be a major disappointment.

Safety Jairus Byrd was lost for the season early, fullback Erik Lorig couldn’t get on the field until late, cornerback Champ Bailey never made it out of the preseason, CFL safety prospect Marcus Ball didn’t live up to expectations after being dubbed as Roman Harper 2.0, and a second stint with the black and gold didn’t go quite as many would have hoped for center Jonathan Goodwin.

Before we break into March, it’s time to reflect on some of the names who have come through New Orleans in the Sean Payton era.
