The New Orleans Saints must bolster their interior offensive line in 2015. As much as we admired the grit of veteran Jonathan Goodwin, he certainly was not the player we knew during his first stint with the team. On the offensive line, there’s a big hole to be filled at center. While there’s a great deal of uncertainty as to whether or not Tim Lelito will step in as the team’s new center, there’s a lot to like about Stefen Wisniewski.

Wisniewski certainly has ‘family ties’ to the Raiders organization. His uncle, Steve Wisniewski, spent his entire thirteen year career with the Raiders, appearing in the Pro Bowl eight times. His father, Leo, played nose tackle for the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts.

The two parties are currently in a contract standoff, and Wisniewski could hit the open market. He performed well last year for the Raiders, allowing only one sack and three hits to rookie quarterback Derek Carr. However, Wisniewski only graded out as Pro Football Focus’ 22nd ranked center.

The league average for the middle of the pack centers is roughly $3-4 million. Wisniewski certainly fits the bill of what the team is looking for in terms of talent and price, and could prove to be a huge addition for the Saints in 2015.
