After the news earlier on the release of WR Joe Morgan, some more interesting activity surrounding the New Orleans Saints has surfaced.  According to reports by insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and, head coach Sean Payton has decided to bench strong safety Kenny Vaccaro against the Chicago Bears.

The second-year defensive back out of the University of Texas had an incredible rookie season, but seems to have fallen into a bit of a sophomore slump.  However, the news is very surprising as Vaccaro is certainly not the biggest problem in Rob Ryan‘s struggling unit. Through 13 games this year, the 2013 first-round draft pick is third on the team in total tackles and second in combined tackles.  Vaccaro has also tallied a sack, two interceptions and five passes defended.

He has had a problem with missing easy tackles and allowing opposing receivers to get behind him, but just about the entire defense, which ranks dead last in the NFL, has seen its fair share of miscommunication in 2014.

Times are tense in the Big Easy at the moment — nobody is too sure about what’s really going on, both on the field and in the front offices.  The Saints (5-8) face their struggling NFC North counterparts, the Chicago Bears (5-8), in Monday night’s matchup in the Windy City.  We’ll be sure to keep the Who Dat Nation updated if any more surprising news surfaces out of New Orleans.
