There is news out of the Big Easy as the New Orleans Saints have made a few transactions. The Black and Gold have signed guard Eric Olsen to the active roster, signed tackle DeMarcus Love to the practice squad and have released practice squad center Alex Parsons, according to sources.
Center Jonathan Goodwin was carted off the field during Sunday’s contest in Motown against the Detroit Lions, so the thought of the injury being a long-term thing is beginning to cross the minds of many.
Olsen, who is familiar with the center position, was a member of the Saints in 2012 before being relieved of his duties during the 2013 preseason, following a stint on injured reserve. According to Katherine Terrell of NOLA.com and The Times-Picayune, Olsen has been on the Saints’ emergency list after working out for them last month.
The Notre Dame product began his career with the Denver Broncos after being selected in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Since then, he has also played with the Washington Redskins as a practice squad member in 2011, New Orleans from 2011-2013, the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013 and this year as a member of the Tennessee Titans practice squad. He’s played in 17 career games, starting four of them.
DeMarcus Love, an Arkansas product, was drafted in 2011 by the Minnesota Vikings and has since then also been a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants. For now, there is no news on Goodwin’s injury or a timetable for his return, but we will certainly keep you updated, Who Dat Nation.
