Well, if you were trying to get over the loss yesterday Who Dat Nation, then this certainly won’t ease your pain.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that New Orleans Saints’ running back Mark Ingram is expected to miss a month with a hand injury (broken hand).
"Mon, Sep 15, 2014:Saints RB Mark Ingram is expected to miss about a month with a hand injury he suffered Sunday, per source.@AdamSchefter"
This is a huge loss for the Saints, as they will be without their leading rusher for this week’s showdown with the Minnesota Vikings, Sunday’s Prime Time matchup with the Dallas Cowboys, and then a home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The only encouraging news is that Week 6 is the team’s bye week, which would give Ingram a chance to play in Week 7 at the Detroit Lions.
Ingram’s 2014 stats: 24 rushes, 143 yards, 71.5 yards/game, 6.0 yard rushing average, 3 rushing touchdowns, 4 receptions for 22 yards
The Saints rushing attack is currently in the Top 5, with 313 rushing yards and 156.5 rushing yards/game.
The team has not made an official announcement that Ingram is indeed out, but expect it to come soon, as Schefter is usually spot on 99% of the time. Pierre Thomas, Khiry Robinson, and Travaris Cadet would handle all rushing duties in Ingram’s absence.
Coach Sean Payton stated in today’s press conference that ‘we’ll evaluate where he’s at’.
