The New Orleans Saints have named their five team captains for the 2014 NFL season.  Drew Brees and Zach Strief will once again lead the offense while punter Thomas Morstead replaces the departed Will Herring on special teams.

Inside linebacker Curtis Lofton will continue the job on defense with Junior Galette assisting him.  Galette will take over Malcolm Jenkins‘ role following the safety’s release and signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Black and Gold’s outside linebacker thrived in Rob Ryan’s new 3-4 system in 2013, recording 12 sacks, which was good for second on the team and sixth in the league right behind Saints’ DE Cam Jordan.  Galette has the experience, intelligence and exemplary game to flourish as a defensive captain.

Even without the “C” on his jersey, the Crescent City’s first-class pass rusher has always been a vocal leader.  His presence is admirable and his performance is even better.  From all of us here at Who Dat Dish, we would like to congratulate Junior Galette.  Fear the beard.
