The New Orleans Saints officially kicked off their 2014 training camp this morning, much to the delight of many Who Dats. Here are some highlights/notes from this morning:

  • Weather was between 61-70 degrees
  • NT John Jenkins did not participate (PUP), and OT Tavon Rooks did not participate
  • WR Joe Morgan looked good and fully participated, wore a sleeve on his right knee
  • S Jairus Byrd had helmet on, participated in stretches, and wore sweats while the rest of the team wore shorts – worked with trainer, performed well in individual drills
  • C Jonathan Goodwin started taking second team reps, while Tim Lelito took first team reps
  • WR Kenny Stills went out with a right quad injury, was able to walk off on own
  • LB Victor Butler and CB Patrick Robinson worked with the first team defense
  • QB Luke McCown  and CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste were among those that took second team reps; QB Ryan Griffin worked on field goal and extra point holds
  • K Shayne Graham was perfect on a 47-yard field goal try while K Derek Dimke clanked it off the left post; distance was not an issue – both kickers went 3/3 on tries
  • WR Nick Toon continues to impress, hauled in a back shoulder throw on CB Champ Bailey
  • 2-time PGA Champ, Bubba Watson, and Dr. James Andrews were among those in attendance this morning; Watson dropped a pass from QB Drew Brees
  • WR Brandon Coleman hauled in a deep ball from QB Ryan Griffin over CB Corey White
  •  went up in front of S Ty Zimmerman on a 30-yard catch from Drew Brees at goal line, and TE Jimmy Graham appropriately gave him a nice chest bump
  • P Thomas Morstead was mad at himself after one of his punts had a 4.78 second hang-time
  • Crowd was screaming LB Junior Galette‘s name, and Galette responded by raising his hands and giving a loud laugh
  • CB Champ Bailey was teaching CB Keenan Lewis a few things during practice
  • There was a LOT of media personnel in attendance
