Tampa Bay is certainly going to be a long term contender in the NFC South  as they can build their defense around elite defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and linebacker Lavonte David. Alterraun Verner  and Michael Johnson have a chance to establish themselves as household names this season. The rest of the defense will need to step up in order for the Buccaneers to consistently stall NFL offenses. Defensive linemen Adrian Clayborn has not lived up to his potential and Tampa is hoping the addition of Clinton McDonald can solidify their defensive line. Linebacker Mason Foster and defensive backs Dashon Goldson and Johnathan Banks will also need to step up their play under head coach Lovie Smith to secure a suspicious secondary.
