I’ve been hinting at this possible move for a while, but today made it official. The New Orleans Saints announced that the team re-signed veteran wide receiver Robert Meachem.

"Meachem said signing with the Saints now should help with his preparations as he will be able to take part in the team’s offseason conditioning program, OTAs and mini-camp. Plus, “this is home,” he said."

Meachem finished the 2013 season with 16 receptions for 243 yards, and scored twice. Meachem will continue to add value in run blocking. He graded out with a +5.6 on 401 snaps from Pro Football Focus.

Back in February, I gave my honest thoughts on a Meachem return:

"In my opinion, Robert Meachem has much left in the tank, and while things didn’t work out for Meachem in San Diego, there’s little doubt in my mind that he belongs in New Orleans. Meachem has a long list of infamous plays as a member of the team, and in 2013, Meachem showed that his presence around the football is top-notch."

Meachem was used a lot on first down packages, and I previously ranked him as the #9 Priority of the players scheduled to become free agents.

Meachem returns to New Orleans on a one-year deal.
