The Ricky Williams Rule
Back Story: Anyone these days knows about Ricky Williams, especially Saints fans, who would also love to forget Williams along with coach Mike Ditka. Williams was one of the first players to exhibit a ‘colorful’ hair style. He would be tackled by the hair more than a few times. Eventually, the play that sparked the ultimate controversy came at the hands of Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson, who tackled Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu by the hair in a very decorative fashion.
The Rule: In 2003, the NFL declared that despite your long hair choices, it is a legal part of the uniform. Though it may hurt like hell, you can be tackled by it.
