Nothing is ever safe these days it seems, especially in NFL Free Agency. At the end of the day, money talks.
The Atlanta Falcons have presented restricted free agent safety Rafael Bush with an offer sheet. The New Orleans Saints have five days to respond with matching the offer from the Falcons, or risk losing Bush to their rival.
Bush was originally presented the minimum tender that was worth$1.4 million deal on a one-year deal.
"The team is $2,206,141 under the salary cap as of Thursday afternoon, according to the NFLPA, so it would be difficult for the Saints to afford a deal much higher than the original tender issued to Bush."
The Falcons are definitely pulling a fast one with Bush, and I firmly believe the Saints should make efforts to keep Bush, however, the exact figures will be the deciding factor. As Holder suggests, with the team bringing in CFL sensation Marcus Bell, who played safety for the Toronto Argonauts, it could be tough to retain Bush.
We’ll know in a short time what the team plans to do.
