Good Pick: Cam Jordan

There were some good defensive ends in this draft. J.J. Watt, Ryan Kerrigan, Robert Quinn, and Marcel Dareus just to name a few. Payton snagged Cameron Jordan towards the end of the first round and he has proven to be every bit as good as the guys I named. He was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and continues to wreak havoc on quarterbacks and running backs alike.

Bad Pick: Johnny Patrick

Patrick earned first-team Big East honors in college but he struggled in coverage in the NFL.  He was eventually cut by the Saints in 2013.

Missed Opportunity: K.J. Wright

K.J. Wright developed into a great linebacker after replacing failed starter Aaron Curry. The Saints saw their fair share of him several times. He went on to lead one of the best defenses in the league with Seattle that embarrassed the Denver Broncos in a dominating Super Bowl victory.
