Toby Gerhart (Minnesota Vikings)

Gerhart lacks top end speed or any real explosiveness, but he’s a tough, powerful runner who has proven he has the goods to be an early down and goal-line back. He also has displayed soft hands out of the backfield and has been an effective third down receiver. He’d bring power and strength to the Saints’ backfield where Ingram has otherwise failed to do so on a grander scale.

These are just three of many options in the draft or free agency this year. It’s still worth thinking about that the Saints don’t make any moves, as their backs aren’t bad by any means. However, they’re starting to show some age in a lot of spots, while they probably don’t want to keep counting on guys who keep getting hurt or might be showing slight signs of regression.

If they feel that way in the least, they may want to consider bringing in one of the three guys above to help improve their backfield for next season.
