Johnny Patrick, Defensive Back
2011 Draft, 3rd Round, #88 Overall – Louisville

After taking Martez Wilson, the Saints would have another chance to get some big potential. The team chose Johnny Patrick as a nickel corner/special teamer. Scouts would say that Patrick ‘Does not have elite recovery speed and lacks the hip fluidity to mirror in man coverage. Plays too aggressively at times and gets burned by play action and double moves.’

We saw plenty of that.

After the horrid 2012 season, the team had seen enough of Patrick, and chose to sever ties with him. He’d be claimed by the Chargers, and has been plagued with injuries, suffering three concussions in 2013.

Some Players The Saints Could Have Had In That Round: CB Shareece Wright (#89), S Chris Conte (#93)
