First off, let me just say that I love the television series ‘Chopped’ on Food Network. If you don’t watch it, give it a chance!
At any rate, Saints fans have been patiently waiting to find out what the Saints will do to get under the salary cap, which is required of all teams prior to March 11th. I used my crystal ball about a month ago to come up with the Top 10 Decisions the team would face for the salary cap.
As per Mike Triplett of ESPN, the New Orleans Saints are expected to make roster cuts as soon as today. Roman Harper and Will Smith are likely to be the front-runners, according to a league source.
The Saints have to make room, there’s not much else to say besides that. The team is roughly $13-14M over the salary cap as it is, and cutting Will Smith would save the Saints $11.5M alone. Roman Harper would save the team roughly $2.18M.
Other names to keep an eye on for candidates to be released this week, along with their price savings:
Jabari Greer ($3.175M)
Brodrick Bunkley ($1.275M)
Lance Moore ($2.53M)
Stay tuned, and we’ll bring you the latest as it unfolds!
