#5 – Marques Colston
2014 Salary Cap Figure: $8,300,000
2014 Base Salary: $5,500,000
Dead Money: $10,100,000
Potential Cap Savings: ($1,800,000)
Contracted Through: 2016

Just when you think Marques Colston is slowing down, he responds with another respectable season, but failed to get to over 1,000 yards for just the second time in his career (2008) . He’s been doing it all for the Saints since 2006, and is the franchise leader in a host of receiving categories.

2014 Outlook: Colston turns 31 in June, and he looks/hope to retire alongside Drew Brees. Colston’s a very soft-spoken receiver, never running his mouth, but just coming in to do his job. He reworked his contract last season, saving the Saints $2.1M in cap space, but it’s going to be a decision of whether the Saints want to dish out more money for Colston to lower his base, which is hard to see happening.

Final Decision: None – Leave Alone
