When the Saints lost Olin Kreutz unexpectedly, they went with de la Puente. All he’s done since 2011 is start in every single game for the Saints. He graded out as the #2 ranked center in 2012 as per Pro Football Focus. Besides Ben Grubbs & Drew Brees, he’s the only Saints offensive player to take every single one of the 1,126 offensive snaps on offense.
2014 Outlook: de la Puente is ready for a big payday, and the Saints are going have to pay him to prevent him from hitting the open market. It’s a very uneasy thought to think of who actually backs up for de la Puente if he goes. As per the depth chart, that’d be Tim Lelito. I’ll stick with de la Puente. He’s vital to the team.
