Some parting thoughts.

"“We have smart fans. … They’re smart enough to understand that, just like we have in years past, we’re going to make decisions as best we can for our club moving forward. They’re going to be able to read closely between the lines and understand we’re going to be in good shape. They’re not going to be in a panic. They’re going to be confident just the same way we are.” -Sean Payton"

I’ll reiterate that Mickey Loomis is a smart business man. He will have a plan of attack when it comes to free agency. As far of the business side of football, players want to get paid what they feel they are worth. However, we don’t have the luxury of baseball, and can’t just freely spend. I mean, could you imagine having a $229M salary cap like the New York Yankees?

The 2014 Saints will have their fair share of new faces, and you can sense the movement for the team is to ‘get younger’, and the ‘more with less’ is working quite well, as Sean Payton publicly praised how fast this season’s draft class has come up. In a football world, would you pay $5M for someone when you get the same youthful talent for only $500K? Hell no.

Free Agency doesn’t officially begin until March, but once the Saints season ended Saturday against the Seahawks, it started for Mickey Loomis.
