Zac Stacy – Ghost of Steven Jackson Past?
Again, let’s go to the Keys to the Game:
"What to Watch For: How the Saints fill the box to stop Zac Stacy. Stacy, who wasn’t even close to being a depth chart option in the preseason, was given an opportunity to earn the starting role for the Rams weeks ago, and was more than happy to capitalize on it. Last week, he was held in check by the Cardinals, getting only 25 yards on 14 carries. We know that Stacy is no Steven Jackson (the Rams one that is), but the run defense has shutdown considerable rushers this season. It can’t be a game where the Saints yield a big outing for Stacy."
Zac Stacy averaged nearly 5 yards/carry (4.8 actual), running for 133 yards on 28 carries, including the one touchdown. Stacy also had several bursts, but a huge run of 40 yards was one of the many plays that added insult to injury.
The defense uncharacteristically missed a ton of tackles yesterday, and had problems with penalties. It was as though we took a time machine back to last season. Let’s also just say the unit who sacked Cam Newton five times last week didn’t register a single sack yesterday on Kellen Clemens. In fact, they were only credited with one quarterback hit.
