Anytime we see a lot of Thomas Morstead doing more punts than kickoffs is a bad thing. Morstead would punt six times against Seattle, and while he looked great (that’s a Pro Bowler for ya), he was called upon way too much. The Saints did attempt to convert two fourth downs later in the game, but failed on both attempts. Again, the less we see of Morstead on punts as opposed to more on kickoffs, the better.
Let’s also not forget how bad the Special Teams was in the home game last season. I am sure we are beyond this, but it helped the Panthers have a lot of short fields.
The drought continues, and the Saints have not had a Special Teams touchdown since Week 1 of 2011 against the Packers. Are we finally due for a Darren Sproles run back?
