The New Orleans Saints have never won a Thursday Night Football game on NFL Network.
That changes this week with a game against the lowly Atlanta Falcons.
ESPN’s Mike Triplett has the details:
"The Saints will try to win for the first time ever on the NFL Network. So far, they’re 0-for-3 in prime-time games on the NFL Network (a Thursday-night loss at Atlanta last year, a Saturday-night loss at home to Dallas in 2009 and a Thursday-night loss at Chicago in 2008)."
For a team that has experienced such great heights in the past decade, this is a strange stat to see. One would expect Drew Brees and the Saints to play well under the national spotlight.
Alas, the Saints are about to make more history this season and get their first win on the league’s network. It’s a short turnaround, but the Falcons simply are not much competition this season. Matt Ryan is without weapons to throw to, the offense can’t run the ball and the defense has either quit or is simply not talented enough.
Enjoy the first of what could be many wins in the coming years on NFL Network.
