What a game for special teams. If not for a muffed fumble by Lance Moore, this would have been a perfect score. Thomas Morestead was solid, three punts for 154 yards, a 51.3 yard average. The return by Travaris Cadet was outstanding. It was the kind of play the Saints have been missing on special teams all season. Sean Payton may just have to rethink his kick return depth chart. But, the real star of the special teams was Garret Hartley.
Make no mistake, there is nothing good to say about Hartley’s previous games. He has been missing a lot of field goals. But in this game he was three of three on his field goals, all in the fourth quarter, including the game winning score. This was a big game for Hartley, it helped his chances of staying on the team another week. At the very least.
