That time again Who Dat Nation!

Welcome back to another edition of Keys to the Game!

As always, we start with some weekly power rankings for the Black & Gold:

  • ESPN: #4 (Previous Week: #6) +2
  • #5 (Previous Week: #7) +2
  • CBS Sports:  #5 (Previous Week: #7) +2
  • Fox Sports: #7 (Previous Week: #7) +2

Yeah, that lower power ranking was extremely short-lived. Whether it was the 625 yards of offense, the dominant defense not allowing the Cowboys a third down conversion all game, Drew Brees playing almost perfect, or Mark Ingram’s big breakout game, I kind of see their point.

Last year’s meeting turned the tide on the Saints season, as the 5-5 Saints, who started 0-4, lost to the 49ers 31-21. Drew Brees would throw 2 pick sixes, including a ball that should have never been thrown to Ahmad Brooks, as the Saints missed out on points before the half, and would never recover. Brees was also sacked 5 times on the day, as the 49ers would help set the Saints on a collision course with a 3-game losing streak.

It’s those pesky 49ers, the team that has broken our hearts in the past 2 seasons.
