Did You Know?

  • This is only the 12th meeting between these two teams.
  • The Saints lead the all-time series 6-5, with the last 2 meetings going to the Saints, and they are 5 out of their last 6 against the Jets since 1989.
  • The last meeting between these two was 10/4/09, where the Saints won 24-10, and fueled by a defensive showing. Darren Sharper had a 99-yard pick six, and Remi Ayodele recovered a fumble in the end zone. Drew Brees only passed for 190 yards, but the Saints churned up 153 yards on the ground (Pierre Thomas 19-86)
  • The last time the Saints played at New York (against the Jets at least) was 2005. Devery Henderson would catch an Aaron Brooks pass for 30 yards with 6:28 left in the game, as the Saints won 21-19.
  • Drew Brees has a 2-2 career record against the Jets, and they are one of six teams that Brees has a lower TD:INT ratio (3TD-5INT). The other teams? Browns, Broncos, Dolphins, Rams, and Redskins

I’ve said it before, this is a classic ‘trap’ game. There’s nothing to take away from the Jets, who are 4-4 on the season, but on paper, and overall, the Saints are the better team. The Jets have a 3-1 record at home this season.

I don’t expect this to be a blowout, by any means. The Jets have shown resilience when they have fallen behind, so even if the Saints get a lead, they shouldn’t sit on it. However, I see struggles in the first half, and adjustments made for the second half that will ultimately let the Saints prevail.

Final Prediction: Saints 30, Jets 14
