For now, it seems that the Saints & Who Dat Nation can breathe a little easier.
We reported yesterday that Jimmy Graham was undergoing an MRI for his foot injury sustained in Sunday’s game against the Patriots.
Lots of information from various sources, most importantly the Saints front office, is now stating that Graham’s foot injury is minor. ESPN’s Ed Werder also officially reported that the Saints believe Jimmy Graham’s foot injury is minor. The team will monitor his status as the bye week progresses.
Again, the bye week could not have come at a better time for the Saints. Foot injuries, as we’ve seen in the recent years, are more common (see Lisfranc Injuries).
Graham missed one game last season (against the Chargers), after suffering a gruesome looking ankle injury against Tampa Bay in Week 6.
There’s no denying the ‘grit’ and ‘toughness’ of Graham. He played through a bothersome wrist injury last season, and underwent surgery in the offseason to fix it.
We’ll get more injury news when the Saints take on the Bills in Week 8, and don’t be surprised if a ‘not serious’ injury means he misses a game or two. After the Bills, the Saints travel to take on the Jets, and then start a brutal stretch of the Cowboys-49ers-Falcons-Seahawks.
