Given what I just spoke of, the Saints signed 6 players to the practice squad. To the delight of many, hometown Tulane QB Ryan Griffin may have been the highlight of that roster. The other players included on that roster were TE Michael Higgins, FB Austin Johnson, CB Jumal Rolle, WR Saalim Hakim, OT Marcel Jones. The Saints made two recent additions bringing back LB Rufus Johnson, and adding OT Senio Kelemete (formerly of the Cardinals).
Undrafted Rookie Free Agents took up 6 of the active roster spots this season. DE Glenn Foster, OG Tim Lelito, RB Khiry Robinson, TE Josh Hill, LB Kevin Riddick, and CB Rod Sweeting all made the final roster. It’s hard to look at any of these guys, and say they didn’t deserve to be on the roster. Never underestimate the small school factor. Grand Valley State, Idaho State, West Texas A&M should all be proud.
Let’s not forget the drafted rookies. Aside from the 6th Round Selection DE/OLB Rufus Johnson, all of the other drafted rookies are apart of the active roster. For recap purposes, that’s S Kenny Vaccaro, OT Terron Armstead, WR Kenny Stills, and NT John Jenkins.
I don’t know about you, and while it’s extremely way too early to conclude, these handful of players potentially serving as the Saints ‘future’ is one to watch grow & develop.
