The New Orleans Saints are implementing a new 3-4 defense under defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who is hailed as a defensive mastermind by most folks in the NFL.
Ryan is also known for having quite the temper. That’s fine—Ryan expects perfection.
He did not get much of that early when the Saints took on the Houston Texans in Week 3 preseason action. Ryan was visibly agitated on the sidelines, but it sure makes for some funny stuff courtesy of our friends at SB Nation:
Ryan can be as angry as he wants if his players are not doing their jobs. It is not a display you see often from coaches around the league, but it is a unique approach that has worked in the past for Ryan.
The funny thing is, Ryan looks just like a fan watching the Saints defense—especially if we are talking about the defense from last season.
Here’s to hoping Saints do not have to see much of this from Ryan next season. With the changes he is making, we’d bet fans won’t have to all that often.
