Who Dat Nation came alive this evening when ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the New Orleans Saints were going to hire Rob Ryan as their new defensive coordinator.  But then the game changed a short time later.’s Saints beat writer Larry Holder and WWL Sports Kristian Garic both reported that the Saints had actually made no such move and in fact were still going to interview Ryan as well as Georgia Bulldogs defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.

Both choices have met with some scepticism since Ryan only lasted two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and Grantham lead the Bulldogs to their worst ranking in memory with 32nd in total defense in 2012.

In fairness to Ryan, his stint in Dallas was the best of his career as the Cowboys ranked 12th in overall defense in 2011 and 19th overall in 2012.  Also while being fair, Ryan’s defense this season was racked with injuries especially at the linebacker position.

Grantham is reportedly being sought after by Chip Kelly who recently became the new head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles after leaving the Oregon Ducks as their head coach.

From the updates given, Grantham will interview with the Saints on Thursday and Ryan will interview on Friday.
