In contemplating this mock draft, we know that the New Orleans Saints have lost their second round pick and I’m also going to exclude their seventh round pick for linebacker Barrett Ruud from the Seattle Seahawks even though it’s not certain yet.

Round 1, Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah(BYU), Defensive end

I know that Ansah may not “fit” the new 3-4 scheme the Saints are going for but there is just something about him I can’t quite pass up.  Ansah really built his stock with me in the Senior Bowl showing not only pass rush abilities but being quick for someone his size.  Scouts said Ansah faltered in practice because he was “thinking” too much but seemed to just play off instincts during the game.  My main choice would be to draft L.S.U.’s OLB/DE Barkevious Mingo who would be perfect, but I just don’t think he’ll be there when the Saints pick.  Which leads to the thought on if they should sacrifice to trade up and get him.
