I know some may roll their eyes at this thought but if Mathieu had steered clear of legal troubles, he’d be considered as a top pick.  But after being kicked off the Tigers roster in 2012 and a subsequent arrest, the “Honey Badger” fell from glory.

But he apparently has been doing better and has been staying in Florida with former L.S.U. teammate and current Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson’s father.  The elder Peterson reportedly has been pushing Mathieu spiritually as well as physically with a hardcore training regimen.

During his brief two year college career, the tenacious and feisty Mathieu had 136 tackles, 6 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, and four interceptions.  As a kick returner for the Tigers he had 420 return yards and 2 touchdowns in 2011.  Currently he is tagged as a fifth to sixth rounder and could be one of those high risk, high reward picks.
