New Orleans Saints fans wanted to see their team repeat as division champs but that dream began to slip away early in the season as the Saints are just trying to stay afloat.
I mentioned early in the season after the Saints dismal start that if they kept playing like a vanilla team, that they would be lucky to have an 8-8 year.
They began to catch fire and I was ready to eat my words, but some epic collapses have pushed the Saints back to a “lucky 8-8” and have pushed them even further from a playoff spot.
The Falcons clinched the NFC South crown Sunday and are poised to possibly have home-field advantage during the playoffs as well a first-round bye since they are picked to be the #1 seed.
The Saints on the other hand are simply going to be happy with a shot at the #6 seed which the Seattle Seahawks currently are in control of. But they will need some help along the way.
Also in the NFC South, the Buccaneers are now claiming the 9th seed and all they have is NFC games left. The upcoming game against the Bucs on December 16th is a must win for the Saints in more ways than one.
