Fans of the New Orleans Saints were hopeful this morning when reports came out that running back Darren Sproles could possibly be active against the Oakland Raiders but that won’t be the case.
Multiple media sources are now saying that Sproles has been ruled out for today’s game. This is due to the swelling on the left hand of Sproles who had surgery on it several weeks ago.
The team was optimistic that he could play when he returned to practice this week and he looked “dynamite” according to interim head coach Joe Vitt. But the hand began to swell after the second consecutive practice.
For the third week in a row the team will likely rely on running back Chris Ivory to have another big game in place of Sproles. Wide receiver Lance Moore and running back Travaris Cadet should handle special teams return duties in his place.
