New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Morgan scored his second career NFL touchdown in dramatic fashion today but disappeared not long after to be checked out at a local hospital.
Morgan caught a deep pass by Drew Brees with under five minutes left in the second quarter and appeared to be taken down by safety Mark Barron.
Instead Morgan retained his balance and kept his knee just inches off the turf to keep the play alive. As Morgan jumped to turn towards the endzone, cornerback Eric Wright attempted to tackle him but instead ended up getting flipped over as Morgan used Wright’s momentum to propel him.
After scrambling almost ten yards, cornerback E.J. Biggers tried to stop Morgan with a vicious hit but it was too late as the wily wide receiver broke the plane of the endzone.
Morgan left the game later with an apparent chest injury and was taken to a local hospital to be examined. Fans held their breath but Morgan posted on his Twitter account shortly after the game:
"About to be wheels up finally. Sorry the team had to wait on me lol. I’m all good. Great game!!!"
This is good news for fans and for Morgan as well since after a rough start to the season, he finally seems to be hitting his stride with the offense as the Saints are looking to him to help with his speed to stretch the field.
