The New Orleans Saints have reportedly released wide receiver Greg Camarillo who was brought in for depth at the beginning of the season.

Camarillo had been working out with quarterback Drew Brees during the offseason and when injuries bit the Saints at the position, he was brought in due to his familiarity with the Saints franchise quarterback.

The Times-Picayune beat writer Larry Holder confirmed the reason for the release of Camarillo was due to linebacker Ramon Humber was finished serving his three-game suspension and the Saints needed a roster spot for him.

The team is apparently has an overabundance at the position although the Saints haven’t been on fire as far as receiving goes.  Running back Travaris Cadet has also been getting reps in as a slot receiver and can possibly be used as a duel threat.

Humber was also named as a possible replacement for linebacker Chris Chamberlain who is on injured reserve(ACL).  Like Chamberlain, Humber is versatile and can play several linebacker positions.
