Former New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper to hold his second softball game for charity


Former New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper is hosting his 2nd Annual Darren Sharper Home Runs For Kids Celebrity Softball Classic.

Sharper is having the event held at Zephyr Field 6000 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. and will be on Sunday, August 26.  It will start at 11:00 a.m. with a Tailgate Fest, Car & Bike Show, and a Best In Da Bayou BBQ Contest.  The game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

This event mirrors former Saints fullback Heath Evans’ charity softball event also held at Zephyr Field, which benefits sexually abused and neglected children.

Sharper’s will have several charities with one being the Sharper Kids Foundation, which helps disadvantaged children.  Other charities listed are the American Cancer Society, The Blood Center, Get Checked or Check Out, and Lance Moore 16 Community Cares.

As with Evans’ game, this showcase’s offensive and defensive against each other, in this case, Team Sharper vs. Team Moore with Sharper heading the defense and Saints wide receiver Lance Moore leading the offense.

Tickets are available by going to www.darrensharper.com and clicking on the “Buy Tickets Online” which will take you to the Ticketmaster site.  Prices appear to be $17.25 for adults and $12.25 for children 2-12.
