Jonathan Vilma is suing the commissioner Roger Goodell for defamation of character, that much is well known at this point, but the case was just assigned to a Federal Court.
The case has been assigned to Judge Ginger Berrigan of the Eastern District Court of Louisiana.
Goodell has maintained that Vilma was a key contributor and sponsor of the bounty program over the last three years.
He even stated that he has direct knowledge that Vilma offered up a $10,000 dollar payment to the man that could knock Brett Favre from the January 2010 NFC Championship game.
Vilma has maintained his innocence throughout the process and claims he, nor his attorney, have been provided with any of the supposed evidence that the NFL claims they possess.
For now Vilma is at the teams facility still rehabbing his knee injury while he appeals the season long suspension Goodell levied against him.
