Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign Curtis Lofton from division rival Atlanta Falcons

It appears that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have drawn first blood in the NFC South division as reports say they have just agreed to a contract with former Atlanta Falcons middle linebacker Curtis Lofton.

No details have been given on the money and years, but the signing would suggest that Tampa Bay wants him as a three-down linebacker in new defensive coordinator Mike Nolans’ defense.

Lofton’s signing likely signals the end of Mason Foster, and finally addresses what as been a major weakness in the middle of the Buccaneers defense.

In four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons Lofton has totaled 492 tackles, 4 sacks, 15 pass deflections, 3 interceptions, and 7 forced fumbles.
