Around the NFL: New York Jets will remain a “Sanchise” for now

The New York Jets were thought to be one team in the running for Peyton Manning’s new destination. But according to reports, they are sticking with quarterback Mark Sanchez and are putting it on paper to prove it.
The Jets had what was considered a “soft” interest in Manning. Meaning that they wouldn’t break the bank to get him if there would end up being a power struggle with other teams to sign him.
Manning was visiting the Denver Broncos Friday evening and rumored to be on the way to visit with the Arizona Cardinals as well. The Miami Dolphins are also in the race to lure Manning to South Beach where his second home is located.
The Jets made it official that they are out of the running as per Fox Sports analyst Jay Glazer this evening. Lisa Zimmerman of CBSSports.com reported that the Jets have signed Sanchez to a three year contract extension and keeping their “Sanchise”.
Sanchez has stuggled this past season and never seemed comfortable during games. The Jets had hoped he was on an incline after almost taking the Jets through the playoffs his first two seasons.
Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson stated that Sanchez would’ve probably asked for a trade if Manning would have been signed. The three year extension is for $40.5 million which would reportedly give Sanchez a total of five years with his previous contract at $58.25 million.
