Some defensive linemen that will be up on the market are Mario Williams, Robert Mathis, Cliff Avril, John Abraham, Calais Campbell, and Sione Pouha just to name a few.

The big probability is though, Williams and Mathis will be looking for big salaries, something the Saints are not known for dishing out.  Plus, the Saints are big on one year contracts for free agent linemen and both of these players will want more.

Pouha will be a member of the New York Jets for a bit longer.  At this point, they aren’t going to want to see another important member of their defense go after losing Shaun Ellis to the New England Patriots.

John Abraham has been a fixture on the Atlanta Falcons for a very long time.  He would be a great addition although he didn’t have a great season.  His only downfall is his age, he’ll be 34 in May, and also his recent streak of injury’s.

While Campbell would be a solid snag, the Saints would be wise to pursue a defender whom they actually faced twice during the season, which is Detroit Lions defensive end Cliff Avril.
