The 49ers will try and limit Drew Brees by rushing him, just like every other team, but San Francisco has one of the leagues better defensive lines.

Defensive end Justin Smith is among the leagues most aggressive pass rushers. He had 58 tackles and 7.5 sacks in the regular season, and never quits on a play.

Rookie outside linebacker Aldon Smith has also emerged as force for the 49ers as he led all NFL rookies with 14.5 sacks this year.

On the year, he also added 37 stops, including 31 solo tackles, four passes defensed, two fumbles forced, one fumble recovered and a safety.

To offset the pressure the 49ers are likely going to try and bring the Saints will have to beat the blitz with short passes and the run game.

Moore has a knack for running these “quick” two and three step routes, beating defenders in man coverage or sitting down in the undefended areas of zone coverage.

His presence on the field would be invaluable for the Saints, and his penchant for converting third downs a welcome addition to an already elite offense.

New Orleans will also likely use heavy doses of running back Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, and Darren Sproles to slow San Francisco’s defense.
