New Orleans Saints: Chris Ivory placed on PUP list and 16 other roster moves

The New Orleans Saints are wasting no time in getting their roster down to the league mandated 53 player maximum by tomorrow, announcing several roster moves Friday night.

Conflicting reports say the Saints placed running back Chris Ivory on the injured reserve list, while others state he was waived after being placed on injured reserve.

That would could come as a shock to most considering Ivory lead the Saints in rushing last season with 716 yards (5.2 ypc) after taking over for injured running backs Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush.

He has been recovering from multiple surgeries (foot, hernia) and has yet to practice this off-season in any capacity. The general thinking was that he would be given a PUP list designation and sit out the first six weeks of the season.

Ivory received exactly that, a PUP list designation, and has not been placed on injured reserve nor has he been waived from the team as original reports stated.

The Saints also announced sixteen other roster moves as they start the decent to 53.

Reserve/non-football injury: DE Greg Romeus.

Injured reserve: RB Patrick Cobbs, WR Joe Morgan, and S Paul Oliver.

Contracts terminated: OT Jordan Black, S Quincy Butler, OT George Foster, TE Tory Humphrey, CB Trumaine McBride, S Pierson Prioleau, S Chris Reis, and RB Chris Taylor.

Waivers: WR Montez Billings, DT Dexter Larimore, TE Tyler Lorenzen, LB Dwight Roberson.
