Williams stayed on the defense and spared no expense with his usual colorful language. He was quoted at practice telling the defense, “If you are allergic to hitting, go play for someone else.”
The defense responded and fights began to erupt. Just the other day the offense had to come to RB Darren Sproles rescue as CB Leigh Torrence and other defensive players continued to try and strip the ball after the whistle was blown.
Another small skirmish or two happened the next practice. It appears the Saints defense is ready to wash away the sin’s of the last game. Williams motivation worked and actually praised the unit today after practice.
Some adjustments will be made for the Raiders game due to injuries. Safety Jonathon Amaya will fill in for Roman Harper because of Harper’s broken finger. DT Mitch King will likely fill in for Sedrick Ellis because of a shoulder injury. However, Williams spoke well of Amaya and King and has shown confidence in both players.
