The defense also recorded 6 sacks and 2 interception, one by rookie 7th round pick linebacker Nate Bussey, while the Saints harassed whoever San Fansisco put back there at quarterback all night.

One linebacker “Jonathan Casillas”, that showed a lot of promise last season before a injury forced him miss the entire season, may have shown the Saints that he should be a starter, finishing with 7 tackles, 2 for losses.

Wideout Marques Colston, who has not be practiced last week, did not play in this game, the Saints are playing his injury status very close to the vest, as per Coach Sean Payton media comments.

There are other injured players who will not be suiting up for the first preseason game also, like CB Tracy Porter, RB Chris Ivory, rookie DE Greg Romeus, LB Clint Ingram and a few others.

These guys are being held out for either failing the physical or they are nursing small injuries, but mostly to make sure not to cause further injuries.

Tonight the Saints defense was so aggressive off the line of scrimmage, that the first, second and third teams were hitting 49er quarterbacks all night.

The offseason acquisitions of DT’s Shaun Rogers and Aubrayo Franklin are going to pay big dividends, and it showed from the first snap tonight.

CB Johnny Patrick suffered a knee injury late in the game and his status is unknown, hopefully the injury is not serious and he will be fine.

Coach Payton quoted ‘were not a team right now” he knows there are lots of things that still needs be worked on, even though the final score was 24-3, the starting offence didn’t really accomplish anything on their first three drives. Drew Brees finished going 1-4 for 6 yards.

The best thing about last night’s game, it was only the first preseason game of the year, with more to come in the following weeks, Great showing guys. Who Dat Gonna Beat Them Saints..
