The Saints continue to negotiate with their own free agents, undrafted rookies, and 2011 draft picks. Making moves to solidify and continuing to sign players who can add to the team chemistry.
The Saints have resigned free agent linebacker Danny Clark, then released corner-back Randall Gay, according to tweets and league sources.
Danny Clark, a 12-year veteran out of Illinois, will not be able to join the team for physical activities — weightlifting, practice — until at least Aug. 4, once the formal approval of the NFL’s new collective bargaining agreement by a reconstituted players’ union.
CB Randall Gay, a Louisiana State product whom the Saints picked up as an unrestricted free agent in 2008, appears to have been a salary cap casualty. He spent most of 2010 on injured reserve after suffering a concussion.
Coach Sean Payton said the franchise will have no comment on personnel matters like those concerning Clark and Gay until Friday, but Gay’s departure was confirmed by a league source late Thursday.
