Shortly after, McAllister announced his retirement from the NFL.  He could still be seen  on the sideline coaching up players and rallying the crowd.  He would also receive his long awaited prize, a Super Bowl ring.

McAllister still remains active with the Saints organization and along with former Saints wide receiver Michael Lewis, participates in public relations events.  At games in the Superdome, fans still proudly wear their #26 McAllister jerseys.

Hopefully he will be remembered for his contributions on and off the turf and find his way into the Saints Hall Of Fame soon.  When McAllister was re-signed, I think Sean Payton said it best with this statement:

“Deuce McAllister has always embodied the spirit of the New Orleans Saints and the city of New Orleans”.  Maybe next year we’ll be able to hear, “Deuuuuuuuuce!” be called one last time.
