New Orleans Saints A-to-Z Roster Breakdown: OG Roger Allen

1 of 2

Quick-take: Offensive guard Roger Allen was signed to the Saints practice squad in September after being cut from the Rams. He would spend the entire season on the scout team. (He was signed to the active roster on January 13th, common practice for teams heading into the off season.)

Before joining the Saints Allen spent just one season with St. Louis in 2009 after signing as un-drafted rookie free agent.  He started two games after starting left guard Mark Setterstrom injured his triceps.

  • College: Missouri Western State University
  • Position: Offensive Guard
  • Age/Height/Weight: 25 years old, 6 foot 4, 323 pounds.
  • Status: Practice Squad

Breakdown: Allen’s raw power during his collegiate years was undeniable. He quickly garnered a reputation as Missouri Western’s top blocker as he “manhandled” the competition with relative ease.

Allen finished his senior season with a league-high 107 knockdowns, while posting 14 touchdown-resulting blocks. On top of that his career-high blocking consistency of 88.25 percent was the highest mark earned by a blocker in the NCAA Division II ranks.
