Anthony Hargrove could have been the comeback player of the year last season, after all he re-entered the NFL with the Saints after a two year battle with addiction only to supercede all expectations.
Hargrove became a vital part of the Saints success in 2009 appearing in every regular season game and all three post season contests making 42 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble and three pass deflections.
His versatility makes him even more of a commodity as he can play both defensive tackle and defensive end and the Saints covet his abilities so much that they tendered him an offer at third round compensation.
That of course means that if Hargrove does sign with another team the Saints would have a week to match the offer or receive a conditional third round draft pick from the opposing team in his place.
Surely the Saints brass is keen on keeping him and will surely compete for his services should the Lions proceed to put an offer sheet together.
