The 2009 Pro Bowl roster has been released, the Saints are sending five players which is the most in the NFC South and third overall in the NFC.

Quarter back Drew Brees, elected to his fourth Pro Bowl will start for the NFC squad. Brees lead the Saints to thirteen straight victories throwing for 4,388 yards with 34 touchdowns, only 11 interceptions and a 109.6 passer rating.

Also slated to start are free safety Darren Sharper and right guard Jahri Evans.

Sharper is currently tied for the lead league in interceptions with nine including three run back for a touchdown, which is a club record, while adding 93 tackles, half-a-sack and eight passes defensed.

His 376 interception return yards marks a new NFL record, overtaking the mark set by Ravens safety Ed Reed just a few years back.

Evans has started 63 straight games for the Saints and has been a staple on an offensive line that has allowed the fewest sacks in the NFC and the second-least in the NFL since 2006.

Elected as alternates were middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma and tackle Jon Stinchcomb.

Vilma leads the Saints in tackles with 130, has two two sacks and three interceptions which ties him for first in the NFL among linebackers.

Stinchcomb is another big reason why the Saints offensive line is among the best in the NFL and his election to this years Pro Bowl marks the first of his career.

Hopefully Saints fans won’t see any of these players actually play in the Pro Bowl as that means the Saints are in the Super Bowl, which is scheduled to happen a week after the Pro Bowl.
