Saints Place Pro-Bowl Left Tackle Jammal Brown On IR, Re-Sign Center Nick Leckey

New Orleans effectively ended Jammal Brown’s season today announcing the teams has placed him on injured reserve after he underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia injury.
Brown was expected to return to the field after the Saints bye week but subsequently went under the knife again for hip surgery thus increasing his recovery time.
Second-year backup Jermon Bushrod will oversee Brown’s duties at the starting left tackle position where he has filled in more than adequately since the start of the season.
Earlier in the week the Saints added rookie QB chase Daniel to the active roster and the move forced the team to release backup center Nick Leckey to make room for Daniel.
It seemed like a random act for the team to call up the young rookie QB but most likely some other team was looking to pull Daniel off the Saints practice squad, the Saints apparently want him around.
Brown’s placement on IR however has freed up a roster spot allowing the Saints to re-sign Leckey back to the active roster.
