The second-year wide receiver could make a splash in training camp, especially with his size.

To increase competition and possibly fill in a spot for their wide receiving corps, the New Orleans Saints signed Jordan Williams-Lambert in 2016. Williams-Lambert played 4 years at Ball State, having his most impressive season during his sophomore year. His sophomore season was his best: 1,050 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns off 72 receptions. He was 3rd team All-MAC in 2013 and 2nd team All-MAC in 2014 and 2015.

Jordan Williams-Lambert Career College Stats:

200 receptions, 2,723 receiving yards, 13.6 YPC, 23 touchdowns.

His production in college was strong, and no major injuries ever hampered Williams-Lambert. He was the clear number one receiver for Ball State, and he will have to compete just for a roster spot with the Saints. There was nothing spectacular about him at the NFL Combine, and he came into the draft projected as a 7th round selection or an undrafted player altogether.

NFL Draft Combine Measurements:

6’3″, 228 pounds, 4.64 40-yard dash, 33.5 inch vertical jump, 21 bench reps, 9’8″ broad jump, 4.45 short shuttle.

Williams-Lambert no doubt has the size, strength and hands to make it in this league. But his biggest obstacle to overcome is the ability to use his size to his advantage. He’ll need to become better at getting off the line of scrimmage and playing through contact. All in all, I believe Williams-Lambert has a good shot at making the final 53-man roster. He’ll likely continue on as an important practice squad player, if not. His value as a special teams gunner is also intriguing, so don’t be surprised if you hear more of Williams-Lambert’s name in the coming months.
